Transportation

The easiest way to get to La Paz is to fly directly to General Marquez de Leon Airport (LAP), which is located 15 minutes from downtown. With that said, direct flights are infrequent and generally more expensive than flying to San Jose del Cabo (SJD).

There is a bus service from San Jose del Cabo to La Paz. However, at this time travelers have to take a bus or shuttle from the airport to the bus terminal in downtown San Jose del Cabo where you board another bus to La Paz. The bus is pretty comfortable with reclining seats and a bathroom. It usually takes a little over 3 hours with three stops before arriving in La Paz. Most of the stops have food/drinks or vendors that climb on the bus offering their wares.

There are two bus terminals in La Paz use the one on the Malecon near Cinco de Mayo. The apartments are approximately six blocks towards the ferry from this bus terminal (Republica).

Highways 1 (south) and 9 (west) link La Paz to the tourist destinations of Todos Santos, San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Highway 1 north takes travelers towards the towns of Loreto and the rest of El Norte.
